IP Licensing

Licenses for Intellectual Property (IP), both patents and copyrights are also granted by the Technology Transfer Office at KIIT TBI. Such licenses are granted to both existing businesses as well as startup or spinout companies to develop relevant products or solutions for the market. Most of these licenses deal with Software / IT tools / AI Algorithms developed by the innovators.

We invite industry experts and consultants to have a look at and explore selected KIIT-TBI IPs available for licensing.

Copyrights

Some of our copyrights, as indicated in the available technologies list, have been developed and tested in the University environment, and it requires substantial software development efforts by the licensee before a commercial product can be launched in the market. Therefore, we encourage the businesses to explore these copyrights from the perspective of their existing technology strength.

Terms & Conditions

The terms and conditions of IP Licenses require licensees to invest sufficient time and money in code (for software copyrights), product development, wherever so required. These licenses have provisions like exclusivity, sub-licensing, division of patent rights with the potential licenses. Ongoing royalties and other terms are also discussed to suit a licensee’s needs and the market acceptance potential of specific tool / solution. To ensure that the licenses are actually honoured and development or market sales carried out by the licensees, suitable provisions are included in the license as performance guarantee by the licensee.
